Fees and Funding

At Zig Zag Day Nursery Peterborough, we aim to offer flexible childcare options so families can choose sessions that suit their routine, work patterns and funding eligibility.

Our nursery is open Monday to Friday, 7:00am–6:00pm, and we offer both full-year places and term-time only places.

Sessions are charged at £7 per hour, giving families flexibility to build a schedule that works for them.

FUNDED CHILDCARE PLACES

We offer funded nursery places for all eligible children from 9 months up to school age.

This includes:

  • Funded places for eligible children from 9 months old
  • Funded hours for 2-year-olds from low-income families
  • Universal funded hours for all 3- and 4-year-olds
  • Extended funded hours (up to 30 hours) for eligible working families

Funding can usually be used across a mix of sessions, subject to availability.

If you’re unsure what you qualify for, we are always happy to help explain the options.

ADDITIONAL WEEKLY SERVICE CHARGE

To help us provide a well-resourced environment and enriching daily experiences for children, we charge a small £5 weekly service charge.

This contribution helps cover everyday consumables and additional learning opportunities that are used across the nursery.

What the service charge includes

Snacks Consumables

This supports the cost of items used throughout the week, including:

  • Daily snacks provided to children
  • Ingredients used for baking and cooking activities
  • Food preparation items used during learning experiences
  • Disposable food-related items used for hygiene and safety

These activities support children’s independence, social skills and understanding of food while also contributing to their learning.

Hygiene & Care Consumables

This helps cover essential items used to maintain children’s comfort, hygiene and wellbeing, such as:

  • Wipes and tissues
  • Barrier creams and care products where needed
  • Gloves and hygiene supplies
  • Suncream used during warmer months
  • General nursery care items

Providing these items centrally ensures children’s needs are met consistently throughout the day.

Learning Resources & Enrichment Activities

This contribution also supports additional experiences that enhance the nursery environment, including:

  • Extra craft and messy play materials
  • Themed learning resources linked to children’s interests
  • Celebrations and seasonal events
  • Occasional educational visitors or enrichment experiences (for example animal visits, workshops or themed activity days)

These opportunities help us offer a rich and engaging learning environment beyond the basic resources required.

This small weekly contribution is optional but allows us to maintain a high quality environment where children can explore, create and learn in a well resourced setting.
