OUR ENVIRONMENT
A Structured and Supportive Environment
Our nursery provides a well-organised, carefully planned environment where children can explore safely while developing confidence and independence.
We understand that children thrive when they feel secure and know what to expect. Our structured routines help children feel settled, while our environment encourages curiosity, creativity and active learning.
Each space within the nursery is designed to support different areas of development, ensuring children can access a range of experiences that promote learning through play.
Our Rooms
Baby Room (6 months – 2 years)
Our baby room is a calm, nurturing space designed to support our youngest children as they begin their nursery journey.
In this room, children:
⦿ build secure attachments with familiar adults
⦿ explore through sensory experiences, textures and sounds
⦿ develop early communication through interaction and play
⦿ begin to develop movement, coordination and physical confidence
⦿ follow individual routines that support their comfort and wellbeing
Our practitioners provide consistent, responsive care, ensuring babies feel safe, supported and able to explore at their own pace.
Preschool Room (2–4 years)
Our preschool room supports children as they grow in independence, confidence and readiness for school.
In this space, children:
⦿ develop independence in daily routines and self-care
⦿ build communication and social skills through interaction and group activities
⦿ engage in creative, imaginative and structured learning experiences
⦿ develop early literacy and problem-solving skills
⦿ build friendships and learn to cooperate with others
⦿ gain confidence in expressing their ideas and thoughts
Learning remains play-based, while gradually introducing skills that support a smooth transition into school.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor play is an essential part of daily life at Zig Zag Corby.
Children access outdoor learning every day, giving them opportunities to develop physically, socially and emotionally in a different environment.
Outdoor experiences support:
⦿ physical development through movement, climbing and active play
⦿ confidence and independence as children explore and take appropriate risks
⦿ curiosity and exploration through natural and open-ended experiences
⦿ social interaction through group games and shared activities
We believe outdoor learning plays a key role in supporting children’s overall development and wellbeing, helping them become confident, resilient and engaged learners.
